dance, baby!
its important that i let everyone know right upfront, this isnt jen. I stumbled across (and by “stumbled” i mean i did a search for pregnant dancing on you tube) and found these today. Theyre catchy. i dont know how or why, but they are. As a matter of fact, I almost titled this post “the coolest, creepiest, most bizarre, awesomest, oddly intriguing, i cant believe im watching this, but then i again i cant believe someone filmed these, videos ever.” But i thought “dance, baby!” sounded wittier. This chick does have mad skills, though. holla.

giving thanks for a baby and for ric ocasek

So here we are at Thanksgiving, and who has more to be thankful for than us? We finally got pregnant this year. It was a long journey, with a lot of let downs along the way. We must have spent 900$ on home pregnancy tests, with one after another coming up negative. After a year of trying, we were about to give up. It may sound cliche, but the greatest day of my life was the morning Jen woke me up to let me know that we were having a baby. Now were building a family, from scratch. How cool is that? So this Thanksgiving, more than any other, I truly have a lot to be thankful for. Oh- im also thankful that the Cars finally released a live CD.

poor jen…
Heres a transcript of a conversation jen had recently:
random person: “do you have any names in mind yet?”
jen: “we thought about the name Noah, but John thinks it sounds too meek.”
random person: “really? thats my husbands name.”
jen: “oh.”

the corner of wall st. and sesame st.
Because its never too early to start thinking of the high cost of college, the folks over at oneshare.com offer real framed stock certificates for babies.
This got me curious, so i did some checking: One share of johnson and johnson, purchased on my birthday, august of 1974 would have cost $99.12. That 1 share would now be 46 shares due to stock splits and dividends over the years and be worth approx. $3046.47 today. Not too bad. I can just imagine our child playing with its friends at school: “Want to play house?” “Nah, how about we play flip this house instead, and use the profits to buy other undervalued imaginary houses in this area?”

DNA evidence exonerates video, mp3 taken into custody
So i was thinking today of random things that our baby will never know, things like:
MTV used to play nothing but music videos.
BetaMax was better than VHS, even though VHS won the format war.
Cassette tapes were good only if you were old enough to compare them to 8 tracks.
Pac Man fever.
That after spending 20 years in prison for killing the radio star, new DNA evidence shows that Video was innocent. it was its cousin, Mp3.

pregnancy has its perks…
So because Jen has been so ill lately, the Dr. wrote a note to her work saying that for the time being, she can work no more than 30 hours a week.
This has seemed to help a little, she is only working 6 hour days now. I tried to get him to write a similar note for me, but he wouldnt do it.
I guess thats one of the perks of being pregnant.

shes heaving a baby
I was talking to Jens dad last night about all the fast food she has been eating since finding out she was pregnant. In her defense, she has been sick as a dog lately, and nothing sounds good, so if she tells me shes craving a McRib, you can bet im going to get her one. So anyway, im joking with her dad that she is probably going to give birth to like a 25lb baby because of the food shes eating. After i got off the phone i got curious about how big the heaviest baby ever born is. Assuming no one can prove me wrong, its this little tyke,
born in Brazil back in 2005. The (extra creative) doctors nicknamed him “giant baby.” He weighed 17lbs, and was born via cesarean, much to the mothers joy, im guessing.

lando calrissian, batman, and a 300lb baby
Jen and i were playing the never ending “name game” last nite, when i told her that it would be alot easier to come up with a name if you knew what the baby would look like when it was about 25. You would hate to name your baby”Slim” or “Tiny” and then they end up weighing like 300lbs. So i guess we can scratch those names two off the list. But seriously, sometimes it seems that peoples names dont really fit their personalities. Unless youre talking about the seven dwarfs, their names were spot on.
That being said, i think we should cut out the middleman and name our child something like Doctor, Senator, or ‘The honorable judge.’ Jen really liked the name Lando, until i told her it was the name of a character from Star Wars.
Next time you can bet i will keep my mouth shut until after the baby is born. Although I dont think she has caught on to my suggesting the name ‘Bruce Wayne.’ And since she hasnt caught on yet, i would appreciate you not telling her.
